“Traditionally Baked Cake” is made with fresh milk. The rich egg pancake aroma wafts from the oven when taken out. It may look plain in appearance, but the silky texture is unforgettable. It is a local souvenir not to be missed and an extremely popular cuisine in Tamsui with a long waiting line.
The must try local snack “A-Gei” is transliterated partly from the Japanese word of “Oiled Tofu”. Prepared by emptying the center of the Tofu, adding fried clear noodles and soaking in marinade, then sealed off with fish mince and steamed. Sweet sour sauce or secret recipe of the store is poured on top before serving.

Zhibo Artist’s Village
Zhibo Artist’s Village is located half way up the mountain, around ten minutes walk from the old Sanzhi street. With graceful environment and the landscape of mountain and ocean, many artists have resided in or established workspaces here. The enriching art village atmosphere has attracted many lovers of art and culture.
After the sealing off of this centuries old mine since 1959, it has seen daylight again with reconstruction from hearty locals. The Gaidankent coal mine boasts of the greatest production among mines beneath the mountain (Zhanjijiao) at the time. After the Japanese took control of Taiwan, Zhanjijia station was built due to the resources from Gaidanken coal mine for exclusive coal transportation use. There were over thousands of people here during the height of Gaidankeng production.
