Introduction

Renovations turned an abandoned, overgrown plot of land beside the Dahan River into the Fuzhou manmade wetlands. The wetlands look like a small forest beside the river that could be described as a tiny piece of paradise growing in the middle of the city. They not only help clean polluted water but also foster a rich ecological environment. Because they are located near where Taiwan Railways and THSR the high-speed rail run parallel, sometimes you can even see trains on the two systems passing by together.

Diaoshan Trail

The existence of the Diaoshan Trail can be traced back to 1898, when gold was discovered in the rivers and creeks. The subsequent discovery of gold mine outcrops attracted many curious miners. Back during the mining boom of Shuinandong, Jinguashi, and Jiufen, the Diaoshan Trail was used frequently. With this background information, an unresolved legend of the woeful Fruitless Grave was created on the Diaoshan Trail. The Fruitless Grave is located closer to the exit of the trail, with the inscription on the stone monument dating it back to 1902.

Gongqi Nature Park

The Gongqi Nature Park is located inside the Tamhai New Town> “Gongqi” is the abbreviation for “Land for East-Wing Park No.7.” The Gongqi Nature Park was planned based on natural or semi-natural land with a total area of approximately 3.5 hectares. There are two mountain trails, two landscape trails, one large grasslands, one small observation platform and two entrances/exits. The ends of the mountain trails are still under construction. Gongqi Nature Park is in the vicinity of Light Rail Binhai Shalun Station, requiring only a 3-minute walk. Scenic sites in the periphery include the Cheng Family Abode by the Gongsitian River and the Hwa Hsia University of Technology…etc. which is ideal for taking your family for a walk to get closer to nature on holidays.
