A fter Dr. Mackay arrived in Tamsui, he began missionary work and Tamsui became the origin of Presbyterian Church in Northern Taiwan. The church has a Gothic feel to it, with the glazed windows, bell tower, pointed arches and spires. The brickwork is exceptional, too. Since it was established in 1933, there has not been any dilapidation, and it is still a place where people go for service.
Tamsui Customs Wharf Park Area
Inside the "Tamsui Customs Wharf Park Area", there are buildings that include a western house and two "port warehouses" built during the Japanese Colonial Period for tourists to visit. It now allows people with bicycles to enter the park area for touring. Meanwhile, a "Bicycle Refreshing Station" is found inside the park to provide recreational services, simple maintenance and tour consultations. With a great overlooking view of the landscapes, Guandu Bridge is visible from the riverside in the park where the beautiful sunset of Tamsui estuary can also be appreciated here. In the nearby area, there is the "Tamsui Fishing Industry Cultural Image Gallery" which exhibits many postcards of Tamsui scenery and a landscape cafe for observing the mountain and ocean landscapes and the beautiful sunset, a place for visiting and taking a break.
