Introduction

Guandu Bridge is an important transportation hub connecting Bali, New Taipei City, and Guandu, Taipei City, about 6 kilometers from the mouth of the Tamsui River. Before the opening of the Danjiang Bridge was the last bridge before the Tamsui River entered the sea. Guandu Bridge is Asia's first fully welded steel arch bridge, with a length of 809 meters and a road width of 14.5 meters for four lanes. Completed and opened in 1983, the bridge considerably shortened travel time from Bali and Wugu to Tamsui and Beitou. Its parabolic red steel arch shape also makes Guandu Bridge a well-known landmark on the Tamsui River.

The most striking bridge on the Tamsui River
The bright red appearance makes the Guandu Bridge a significant landmark of the Tamsui River. The main bridge, which consists of a three-arch arch bridge and a two-arch cantilever bridge, is like a red rainbow across the sky, echoing with the surrounding Guanyin Mountain and Yangmingshan background, which is fantastic. There are pedestrian/bicycle paths on the bridge's north and south sides, each 2.25 meters wide. Visitors can ride bicycles to the bridge to enjoy the scenery of the Tamsui River. From the north side, overlook the Tamsui River estuary and the vibrant mangrove landscape. To the south, see the Guandu Temple and the city view of Luzhou.

Guandu Bridge Observation Buildings
There are observation buildings on both the left and right banks of Guandu Bridge, and the six-story observation buildings are the best places to appreciate the bridge's beauty. The right bank observation building offers views of Guandu Bridge and Guanyin Mountain. The left bank observation building is a favorite among those who love sunsets and night views. Come to the observation building in the evening, enjoy the bridge dyed golden by the setting sun and Yangmingshan behind it, and take photos of the city tracks after sunset.

Old Caoling Belt Bikeway

The “Old Caoling Belt Bikeway” is 20km long, and it takes about a two-hour ride. Starting from the “Fulong Railway Station”, visitors can see the charm of Guishan Island from afar, the undulating coastline and spectacular cliffs, making the bikeway a must-visit spot for watching the “mountain and sea together” scene.

Jingan Bridge

The bridge is 128 meters in length, and is the junction bridge between Shifen Village and Nanshan Village. Constructed in 1947, the bridge was used for the transportation of coalmine back then. After mining has stopped, it has been renovated and repurposed as the bridge for pedestrians. It is located close to Shifen Station and the old street, with Keelung River beneath it, and the blue-white colored bridge hence became a popular spot for visitors to take photos with.
