Introduction
The last military kindred village of air defense artillery in northern Taiwan
The Sanchong Air Force Military Kindred Village No.1 primarily housed dependents of the anti-aircraft artillery unit. In response to urban development needs, its residents gradually relocated to Banqiao Jianhua New Town starting in 2007. In order to preserve the memories of living in a military kindred village, compassionate citizens, communities, and organizers of military kindred villages collectively initiated various campaigns and movements aimed at preserving the culture and heritage of these villages. With support from the public sector, Sanchong Air Force Military Kindred Village No.1 was successfully preserved in its entirety.
New Taipei City Military Kindred Village Culture Park
After the restoration project concluded in 2019, Sanchong Air Force Military Kindred Village No.1 was transformed into the "New Taipei City Military Kindred Village Culture Park", dedicated to preserving and promoting the culture of military kindred villages. Through collaboration with diverse contributors, the Park has connected local sentiments and artistic resources to inject vitality into the military kindred village culture. Since April 2023, a section of Sanchong Air Force Military Kindred Village No.1 has been operated by a private entity that secured outsourcing rights. Not only has the imagery of the park's entrance been redesigned but also local stores have also been introduced to set up shop in the Park, transforming the site into an artistic and cultural creation base that drives the development of the Sanchong area.
