Introduction

Located in Wanli District, New Taipei City, Zone 3 of the Gao Family Hydrangea Fields was built in 2019. Covering an area of more than 26,400 square meters, the hydrangea here is in full blossom in May to June, making it the best time to visit. Besides the hydrangea double-hearts, hydrangea creek, and hydrangea paths, you can also view the large area of beautiful hydrangea fields from a high point. The beautiful sight is magnificent, rich in variety, colorful, and impressive in the sheer number.

At the most popular flower wall, you can capture the dreamy atmosphere in photos while being surrounded by flowers. With the swings and layered blossoms, you will be able to take great photos with depths from every angle. This is a must-visit in spring and summer for social media posts.

Former Residence of Weng Shan-Ying (Jiufen Teahouse)

The former residence of Weng Shan-Ying is currently used as Jiufen Teahouse, and majority of the original spatial layout has been preserved. The building structure itself is made of stone mixed with wood, which appears aesthetically unsophisticated. The front is of one storey which enters into a two-storey area in the back, with the indoor space maintaining its original looks, the space is filled with changes while preserving the traditional architectural spatial layout. For the renovated area, many ingenious ideas can be seen in its spatial applications, where besides preserving the original characteristics, the flexibility demonstrated by the building itself is also increased, allowing this residence with close to a century of history still able to demonstrate its unique style.

Wulai Old Street

Wulai is famous for springs and the hill cherry blossoms. As Atayal is the dominant local ethnic group, there are Atayal cultural tokens everywhere in Wulai. Most shops in Wulai Old Street have a strong “indigenous flavor”. Visitors can taste a wide variety of mountain foods in indigenous flavors, such as the charcoal grilled wild boar pork, spring cooked eggs, shell-flower leaf dumplings, rice cooked in bamboo tubes, and dishes made with aromatic litsea. They are rare “Taiwan indigenous specialty foods”. There are also the specialties like the millet wine and millet mochi that are great as souvenirs for friends.
