Natural construction methods create an endless cycle
Zhanghe Wetland was created in line with the existing topography. By using low-carbon and energy-conserving purifying methods, the wastewater is purified and funneled back to irrigation canals, creating an endless water cycle. The biodiversity of the habitat is enriched by creating different types of water bodies and pairing them with different native plants. Moreover, plants such as water bamboo, white water snowflake, and taro are cultivated in the wetland to promote food and agricultural education.

A metropolitan paradise for plants and animals
The ecology in Zhanghe Wetland is rich and diverse. A total of 116 species of butterflies and 90 species of birds have been recorded in the wetland, as well as over 384 kinds of plants that are the home to the Papilio, White Butterfly, Taiwan Blue Magpie, Muller's Barbet, and Crested Serpent Eagle. In addition, it has even led to the return of endangered species such as the Wulai Azalea. You can only enter Zhanghe Wetland by reservation, and specialized guides will take you to experience the wetland. Visitors can make a reservation on the website of New Taipei City's Environmental Protection Department to go on an ecological tour around the city's corner.
