Introduction

The “Xingfushuangxin Park” in Shimen District covers an area of around 2,600 m2. It has integrated the traditional “khan-koo” fishing technique (literally referred to as “seine-fishing technique”) with the imagery of the “Happy Shimen” to offer visitors the opportunity to learn about Shimen Laomei’s historical characteristics when they visit the Park. It also connects various scenic spots, such as Fuguei Cape, Fuji Fishing Port, and Shimen Bridge, serving as a rest stop along the North Coast Bicycle Path.

The most prominent feature in Xingfushuangxin Park is “The Khan Koo Dream Weave”. This installation art is crafted from a colossal stainless-steel framework combined with vibrant glass, producing a play of light and shadow when exposed to the sun. There are also specially designed interactive experience facilities, such as the conch sound-controlled lift system, a square featuring the imagery of a lighthouse man, and sampan-shaped seating, serving multiple purposes including tourism, landscape appreciation, and relaxation. With a detention capacity reaching 300 m3, the park can also slow down the occurrence of downstream flooding, reduce the impact of floods, and facilitate sediment deposition.

Shanjian Road Trail

The trail is a place really worth visiting. It was an ancient road paved along the gold mining route that connected Jiufen, Jinguashi and ShueiNanDongand passed Shuizhen Bridge (also called Gold Bridge). Travelers can visit an elusive garden next to the bridge which is known only by local people.

Tamsui Church

A fter Dr. Mackay arrived in Tamsui, he began missionary work and Tamsui became the origin of Presbyterian Church in Northern Taiwan. The church has a Gothic feel to it, with the glazed windows, bell tower, pointed arches and spires. The brickwork is exceptional, too. Since it was established in 1933, there has not been any dilapidation, and it is still a place where people go for service.
