The emerald of the Ankeng mountain area in Xindian
Located on Ankeng’s “Tutangshan” (Tutan Mountain), Erbazi is named after the topography of the Ankeng area. It is said that when the ancestors looked down from a high place, they saw the gentle contours of hills in the valley resembling the Chinese characters for “eight” and “inverted eight”, which together formed “two eight words” (“Er-ba-zi” in Chinese). This is the reason for naming this place Erbazi. Erbazi is situated near several large mountain communities, such as “Daguan Community”, “Rose China Town”, and “Taipei Xiaocheng”. Erbazi Botanical Garden covers a vast area of 150 hectares. When you take a morning walk through the Erbazi forest, you will be invigorated by the phytoncides. The hiking trails along the Erbazi River, including the Cherry Blossoms Trail, the Miscanthus Trail, the Selaginella Trail, the Psychotria Rubra Trail, the Tung Trail, and the Butterfly Trail, are gentle and easily accessible. There are also informative boards along these trails to help visitors learn more about the world of plants.
