Introduction
Tung flowers and stone tablets inscribed with the names of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas
Along the Chengtian Temple Trail, there are numerous tung oil trees scattered throughout. In the months of April and May each year, the blooming tung blossoms blanket the trail in pure white, creating a very romantic atmosphere. As you hike all the way to Temple, you will see dozens of stone tablets inscribed with Buddhas and Bodhisattvas’ names on both sides of the trail. From time to time, you may encounter pilgrims performing devout worship.
Chengtian Temple
Chengtian Temple was established by Master Guang Qin, a renowned Buddhist monk, in 1955. In his youth, Master Guang Qin took refuge in Buddhism in the renowned Chengtian Temple in Jinjiang, Fujian Province. As a mark of respect to his teacher, he named this temple “Chengtian Temple”. This serene temple exudes an atmosphere of solemn purity. It is also a scenic spot for savoring the beauty of mountain tung flowers from a commanding height. When paying your respects, you can take in breathtaking vistas of the Greater Taipei Basin and Guanyinshan (Guanyin Mountain) in front of the main, enjoying a panoramic view of New Taipei City’s landscapes.
At present, the front mountain gate of Chengtian Temple is temporarily closed. For worship, please enter from the new mountain gate.
