The total length of Sansheng Trail in Sanzhi District, New Taipei City is approximately two kilometers. It is a riverside trail that is paved with andesite. The agricultural development of the area combines “production,” “life” and “ecology.” Along the trail are the views of landscapes, torrent control, arch bridges, stone chairs and railings, embankment, terraced fields, and farming. They are facilities built by Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture (formerly known as Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan) in the early days. A tung blossom trail has been subsidized and built by Hakka Affairs Council and New Taipei City government in the hope of building local Hakka settlements and cultivating people’s concepts of hiking and LOHAS.
Sansheng Trail is beautiful all year round. In spring, petals of cherry blossoms fall along with wisteria. Taiwan cherry blossoms, Yoshino cherry blossoms, Showa cherry blossoms, and double-layer cherry blossoms are planted by the riverside trail. When they are in full bloom, you may take a walk among pink flowers. The flowering season of cherry blossoms starts from middle and late March to early April. Around tomb-sweeping day, petals of tung blossoms are flying all over to make Sanzhi romantic in April and May as the falling of white petals looks like snowing. In summer, frogs croak and the fragrance of ginger lilies wafts. In autumn when leaves turn red, it is time to enjoy fish and crabs. Water bamboos by the trail are fresh and sweet this time of year as well. In winter, morning dew and frost add color to the trail.
