Introduction
National Archives Reading Center and Exhibition Hall
The 3rd floor of the National Archives is the National Archives Reading Center. The comfortable and spacious area includes an archive reproduction area, a restricted access reading area, and an electronic archives reading area. Walking through the Time Corridor on the 2nd floor leads to the permanent exhibition hall and the special exhibition hall. The permanent exhibition "Archives.Islands Our Story" is based on the archives, telling the story of our society's changes and growth. "Archives Story House," specially designed for children, allows them to explore the fun of archives through interesting interactive games. The Archives also features a cultural and creative merchandise area and a light meal coffee shop, allowing visitors to relax during their intellectual journey.
Two Major Public Artworks and Architectural Design
The two major public artworks at the National Archives each interpret the imagery of history and the environment. The indoor work, "Learn From History," constructs a time-space sphere with over 1,700 archive copper plates, enveloping the staircase, as if stepping into a historical vortex. "See Scenery Through Fog" in the outdoor Linshao Square uses a stainless steel mesh structure to represent the natural foggy feature of Linkou, with light and shadow flowing through it like mist. These are the two major highlights of the Archives that must be photographed. The Archives’ main building uses painted glass of different shades of red, with lighter shades from bottom to top, echoing the layers of laterite on the Linkou Plateau and symbolizing the years of accumulated archive files within the Archives.
