"New Taipei Christmasland Wins Global Gold at 2024 New York Design Awards"
[New Taipei News] The "2023 New Taipei Christmasland" event, organized by the New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department, has been awarded the Gold in the "Pop-Ups, Display, Exhibit & Set Design" category at the "2024 New York Design Awards (BETTER FUTURE)." This recognition not only enhances the international visibility of New Taipei City but also solidifies the global reputation of the "New Taipei Christmasland" brand.
The 2024 New York Design Awards include 52 professional categories, ranging from architecture, product, interior, graphic, spatial design, and marketing. Each category awards only one Gold and between three to five Silver awards. In the "Pop-Ups, Display, Exhibit & Set Design" category, the "2023 New Taipei Christmasland" stood out, winning the prestigious Global Gold Award.
The "2023 New Taipei Christmasland," which ran from November 17, 2023, to January 1, 2024, was themed around Santa Bear inviting friends to a sweet party. It featured four whimsical light zones and used innovative naked-eye 3D technology to create the largest-scale light projection show, garnering extensive media attention both locally and internationally. In January of this year, it was named one of the "Top 10 Must-Visit Christmas Destinations in the World" by Australia’s Urban List. In addition, it won the Platinum award in the "Architectural Design - Outdoor Lighting & Nightscapes" category at the "2024 French Design Awards" in April and the Platinum award in the "Architectural Design - Lighting" category at the "2024 IAA London Design Awards" in July. These prestigious international awards have further recognized New Taipei Christmasland’s excellence. Now, the event adds another major accolade with the latest win at the New York Design Awards.
The award-winning entry page introduces New Taipei Christmasland as a Christmas event held in New Banqiao District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, since 2011. Each year, it attracts a large number of domestic and international visitors and has become a hallmark of the season in Taiwan. From creating a stunning urban nightscape and showcasing a unique metropolitan image to connecting surrounding businesses and landmarks, the event's impact extends beyond itself, boosting the city’s economy and fostering the growth of tourism, arts, and cultural industries.
Yang Tsung-min, Director of the New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department, expressed that as the "New Taipei Christmasland" enters its 14th year, it has already become one of the most representative Christmas events in the nation. Winning the "2024 New York Design Award" among so many competitors is a testament not only to the recognition from the event organizers but also to the support of various departments, local teams, and partners. He hopes that through collaborative efforts, New Taipei City’s tourism resources can continue to be promoted internationally, establishing more globally recognized event brands.
