It is located at a turn on the Northern Coastal Highway, where one can easily miss out this beautiful place – the Golden Sand Bay Beach Park, which appears even more eye-catching under the sunshine. The waters from the ocean and the river meet here and one can become closer to the bay and the gravel sand at the same time. The beach features deep-water as well as shallow-water areas after the reconstruction, where younger children are able to play in the shallow-water area. Small fish and shrimps can be seen often due to the abundant ecology. Other than family fun, one can also stroll here while admiring the ocean; have a cup of coffee while enjoying the romance of the beach.

Longdong Bay Cape Trail connects the North and the East Capes with a history of 35 million years for the terrain here. When walking on the trail, one will be surrounded by lush green mountains on one side and azure ocean and sky on the other side. It is hard not to be astonished by such magnificent scenery and thus it is no wonder why it is one of the recommended trails in New Taipei City. The road is gentle along the way, and is suitable for people of all age groups to hike here and admire the magnificent ocean views with the cliffs. The scenery when looking down from the observation platform is astonishing. One can also see many people snorkeling or fishing at Longdong (Dragon Cave), hence, it is a worthy place to visit when coming to the Northeast Coast.

Located on the easternmost cape in Taiwan, the Sandiaojiao lighthouse is the Island’s first place to greet the dawn every morning.

The “Nanya Rocks” have a very special stratum structure. Weathered by the northeastern monsoon and gigantic sea waves over the years, they became unique landscapes on “Provincial Highway 2”. In particular, their color-painting-like patterns make them a local landmark. As most rocks in the area are shale and the hardness of each stratum varies, the degree and speed of weathering differ, thus forming their unique appearances featuring bumps and hollows at different levels.

The peculiar Shen-Ao elephant trunk rock landscape is the result of erosion caused by the northeast monsoon and the sea waves over a long period of time, which looks just like an elephant stretching its long trunk while standing by the cliff, making people praise the uncanny workmanship of nature. You can walk to the Elephant Trunk Rock along the sandstone coast next to the Shan-Ao Fish Port, where the beauty of peculiar stones and rocks such as pedestal rocks and honeycomb rocks can be seen all over the coast along the way, while the marine arch created over a long period of time resembles a long elephant trunk reaching into the water, forming the unique gigantic beast landscape.
